Ipswich Borough Council

Purpose / Values

Public information to advise and educate about violence against women and girls.

The project through the engagement workshops and final public space Art piece successfully created a public discussion point centred around VAWG awareness and its reduction, whilst improving the look of the spaces. Art Eat supported the Safer Streets 4 commission to reach and involve those with a voice of experience, concern or observation using engaging and evoking workshops. An approach that the Public Agencies found hard to achieve themselves. The successful and inclusive workshops steered and fed a nominated artist lead which culminated in a fantastic colourfully co-created, impactful and educational public art piece unveiled April 2023, that became an asset for the town.
Vibrant murals produced around the town provide a fantastic opportunity to educate and instigate discussion for the public whilst enlivening areas of the town. The co-collaboration that forms and designs the art provides a unique and crucial voice to individuals and groups that are often underrepresented, a key tactic for engagement.
